TODD WELSING WINS 141 SPEEDWAY TISLER SALVAGE 250 ENDURO
by Joe Verdegan
(Francis Creek, WI) – June 19 – Denmark’s Todd Welsing inherited the lead on lap 113 when leader Greg Banker of Bonduel dropped out. The enduro veteran went on to win the Tisler Salvage 250 at 141 Speedway Saturday night as he finished 13 laps ahead of 2nd place finisher Norb Rivest of Sheboygan Falls.
Denmark’s Mark Mincheski led the first 100 laps until his machine dropped out due to mechanical problems. Banker inherited the top spot, but his lead was short lived as his machine dropped out on lap 113, giving the lead to Welsing.
The race encountered four red flag incidents. Black Creek’s Frank Calabrese stepped up to challenge Welsing on two occasions but a right rear tire went down, shattering his chances for the win. Norb Rivest finished second, 13 laps down. Mark Metzlaff, Michael Marcus and Kyle Braun rounded out the top five finishers.
10 of the original 26 cars who started the event were running when the checkers flew. The quickest lap of the day was turned in by Brody Rivest at a 17.826. The race lasted one hour and 30 minutes.
Next Wednesday, June 23 Riverside Foods and 105.7 FM WAPL will sponsor the night’s races. The grand national sportsman is the guest class, and will be joined by the weekly divisions IMCA modifieds, stock cars,
northern sportmods and sport fours. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
