(Francis Creek, WI) July 28 – Brad Theys of Kewaunee lead every lap from the drop of the green and went on to capture his first career modified feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.
A total of 115 cars checked in to do battle. The field included 18 modifieds, 13 Brian Peterson Grand Nationals, 24 stock cars, 22 Tisler Salvage street stocks, 21 IMCA northern sportmods and 17 sport fours.
A hard charge from Luxemburg’s Jeremy Jacobs came up short in the end and he ended up in second. Defending track champion Sean Jerovetz came home third, with Seymour’s Jamie Schmidt and De Pere’s Johnny Whitman taking fourth and fifth, respectively.
Manitowoc’s Logan Rhode fought off a fast closing Don Sorce Jr. of West Allis to win the Brian Peterson Builders Grand National feature. Sorce took second with defending track champion TJ Smith third. Little Chute’s Matt Vetting and Manitowoc’s Shawn Schmitt placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
New Franken’s Brad Lautenbach started 12th, and methodically worked his way through the field, passing Green Bay’s Mike Dauphinais for the lead on lap 12 and dodge a pair of late cautions to win the IMCA northern sportmod feature. Oconto’s Rob Charapada pressured Lautenbach the distance, finishing 2nd. Pulaski’s JJ Anderson took third, followed by Green Bay’s Eric Mahlik and Suamico’s Josh Long.
Jeremy Hebel took the lead on lap seven and had free sailing to a feature win that was almost taken away from a hard charging Shawn Haydon. With three laps to go Shawn Haydon made Jeremy Hebel fight for that feature win and it came down to a half a car win by Two Rivers Jeremy Hebel. Coming home in second was Manitowoc’s Shawn Haydon. Third was Adam Fuhrmann of Brillion, Sobieski’s Dan Juszczyk took fourth and Travis Springstroh of De Pere wound up fifth.
Current point leader John Heinz of Green Bay caught Brillion’s Dan Nelson and passed him with three laps to go and went on to win the stock car feature, padding his points lead in the process. Nelson hung on for second place money followed by Green Bay’s Paul White, Manitowoc’s Brett Wenzel and Kewaunee’s Todd Augustain.
Brian Johnson Jr. of Oconto Falls won the sport four feature.
