(Francis Creek, WI) Sept. 2 – Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw 2012 rookie-of-the-year Jeremy Schultz passed Plymouth’s Ben Schmidt and skillfully weaved through lapped traffic to nail down his first Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw sprint car win at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.
The 30 lap A main got off to a rocky start as they took the green. A multi car wreck involving several cars and three rollovers took out heavy hitters Mike Reinke of Howards Grove, Fredonia’s Mike Kertscher and Kenosha’s Dave Uttecht. In the worst wreck in the history for the sprint cars at 141, a 20 minute delay ensued as track workers cleaned up the melee.
When racing resumed Schmidt assumed the lead with Schultz staying within striking distance for the first several laps. Schultz caught up with Schmidt and passed him, and continued sifting his way through heavy lapped traffic. Pleasant Prairie’s Phillip Mock and Mayville’s Robby Pribenow each scored their first ever podium finishes at 141, taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
A total of 61 cars were on hand to compete, including 29 sprint cars, 17 street stocks and 15 WIMS mini sprints.
In the WIMS mini sprints it was Mark Heinert who inherited the lead after Mike Neau was leading and broke. Heinert went on to win the 20 lap main event. Nick Daywalt of Greenfield settled for second with Kyle Koch third, Kyle Daywalt of Gremantown fourth. Current WIMS points leader Nick Petska of Spring Grove, IL was running in the second spot when he broke on lap 2 of the feature and did not return. Tim Brannam of Barrington, IL won his heat and on the start of the feature he had mechanical woes and would not continue.
In the Tisler Salvage Street Stocks 2013 track champion took the lead over Luxemburg’s Scott Boulanger with 13 laps to go and pulled away to capture the feature. Boulanger battled with Shawn Hayden of Greenville for the second spot with Hayden winning the second spot. Boulanger settled for third with Manitowoc’s Ray Fuller fourth and Tim Mueller of New Holstein fifth.
The next racing action on tap at 141 Speedway will be the annual Creek Classic October 4 and 5.
