RICK SCHEFFLER HANDLES 141 WDLMA LATE MODEL FIELD

(Francis Creek, WI) June 16 — Waukesha’s Rick Scheffler slipped inside Glenbeulah’s Tim Buhler for the lead with five laps remaining to capture the 25 lap WDLMA late model feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.

A total of 133 cars pulled through the pit gate, including 28 WDLMA late models, 25 IMCA modifieds,32 stock cars, 23 northern sportmods, and 25 sport fours.

Buhler led much of the early going on the late model main, and on lap 19 made contact with a lapped car. Track officials charged the lapped car with the yellow and Buhler was allowed to keep his spot. After a pair of aborted restarts, Scheffler slipped inside Buhler for the lead on a lap 20 restart, and kept the win. Bonduel’s Nick Anvelink squeezed past Buhler to take second. WDLMA points leader Russ Scheffler of Waukesha drove around Buhler to take third. Buhler hung on for fourth. Random Lake’s Brad Mueller rounded out the top five.

In the IMCA modified main it was a carbon copy of last week’s feature, as Green Bay drivers Eddie Muenster and Jared Siefert squared off for the lead, with Muenster fending off his good friend for the second straight week to take the victory. Siefert settled for second at the pay window. De Pere’s Dean Maurer posted his best finish of the year placing third. Oconto Falls’ Lance Arneson and Green Bay’s Eric Van Iten rounded out the top five finishers.

Algoma’s Shawn Havel fought off Greenleaf’s Jesse Colwell in the waning laps to capture his first, 20 lap IMCA stock car feature. Colwell took second, with Luxemburg’s Eric Malfroid posting his best finish of the year in third. Pulaski’s Junior Karcz took fourth, with Greenleaf’s Mike Gilson rounded out the top five.

New Franken’s Brad Lautenbach captured his first, 20 lap IMCA northern sportmod feature of the win for the season. De Pere’s Johnny Whitman took second, followed by Oconto’s Travis Cain, Pulaski’s Andy Kleczka and Oconto’s Rob Charapada.

Mishicot’s Matt Cherney won the 15 lap sport four feature.

This Saturday, June 19 the first of two 4 cylinder endures under the lights will be run. The pit area opens at 3 p.m. The spectator gates open at 5 p.m. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m..
