MAURER SWEEPS 141 MODIFIED ACTION WITH HOMEMADE RACE CAR (CHAMPIONS CROWNED IN SIX DIVISIONS)

(Francis Creek, WI) August 27 — Driving a race car he built from scratch, De Pere veteran Dean Maurer fought off Seymour’s Jamie Schmidt to win the Modified feature on Larry’s Distributing Budweiser night at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday. Maurer also won his heat, netting a sweep for the evening.
Champions were crowned in all six divisions. Sobieski’s Sean Jerovetz captured his first career Modified track championship. Pulaski’s Junior Karcz won the Stock car title, while Menasha’s TJ Smith successfully defended his Brian Peterson Grand National title. Greenville veteran Danny Gracyalny won the street stock title. Green Bay’s Troy Jerovetz won the Sportmod title while Oconto’s Ralph Liegois Jr. won the Sport four crown.
A total of 114 drivers turned out to race before the largest weekly crowd of the year, including 23 Modifieds, 17 Stock Cars, 18 Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals, 21 Sportmods, 20 Street stocks and 15 Sport fours.
“The Whitelaw Weapon” Kevin Naidl battled Manitowoc rookie Shawn Schmitt at the checkers to collect his second Brian Peterson Builders Grand National feature.
Luxemburg rookie Chad Kaminski netted an $850 payday with his victory in the Sportmod feature. A bulk of Kaminski’s bonus bucks came from his sponsors and fans. Luxemburg’s Dave De Grave netted his first Stock car feature of the season while Krakow’s Bob Czarapata wheeled a 12 year old street stock into victory lane, winning the street stock feature.
Oconto Falls Brian Johnson swept action in the sport four action, winning his heat and the feature.
The $100 Manitowoc Motor and Machining product gift certificate was awarded to Tim Mueller of New Holstein by virtue of his 13th place finish in the street stock feature.
There will be no racing on Saturday, September 3. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw sprints will be in action on Sunday, September 4. Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals will be in action, along with Sport fours. For more information please check the track website 141speedway.com.
