LENTZ DODGES YELLOWS, WINS 141 MOD MAIN

By Jordan and Joe Verdegan

(Francis Creek, WI) May 7 — “Crocodile Kyle” Lentz of Green Bay dodged numerous yellows and fought of Kyle Kudick of Mishicot to capture the 20 lap Modified feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday.

A total of 90 cars checked in to battle, including 19 modifieds, 12 Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals, 12 stock cars, 20 sportmods, 15 street stocks and 12 sport fours.

Lentz started on the point but his win was anything but a gimme. Despite the several yellows that had flown, Kudick closed the gap in the final laps, along with Milwaukee’s Mitch McGrath. Kudick and McGrath wound up second and third, respectively followed by Green Bay drivers Eric Van Iten and Eddie Muenster.

In the Sportmod feature, Green Bay’s “General Jed” Troy Jerovetz inherited the lead when leader Josh Long of Green Bay went off with a flat tire. Jerovetz cruised to victory. Rookie Chad Kaminski of Luxemburg posted his best finish of the year with a second. Two Rivers Jesse Brey wound up third, with Pulaski’s JJ Anderson and Kewaunee’s Brian Bruechert rounding out the top five.

Pulaski’s Junior Karcz fended off Saukville’s Roger Johnson and Denmark’s Rick Mahlberg the duration of the event to win the caution free, 20 lap stock car feature. Johnson nipped Mahlberg at the line in a photo finish for second. Green Bay’s Rick Dix took fourth with Suamico’s Tyler DeBouche rounding out the top five.

Manitowoc’s Logan Rhode dusted the Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals by a full straightaway, capturing the feature. Chilton’s Steve Schneider settled for second place money, followed by Menasha’s TJ Smith, Alex Stumpf of Brillion and Chilton’s Tom Schneider.

Kaukauna’s Matt “Mad Dog” Drawenek went toe-to-toe with Greenville’s Danny Gracyalny. Drawenek was up for the challenge, as he won the 20 lap street stock feature. Gracyalny hung on for runnerup honors, followed by Appleton’s Phil Hiles, Stockbridge’s Adam Broehm and Luxemburg’s George Paul.

Broehm netted a sweep in the sport four class, winning his heat and the 20 lap feature.

With his feature win, Jerovetz, by carrying the 21 Guns Saloon flag for being the points leader, earned a feature win. In doing so, free pizza will be served at the Denmark tavern Tuesday, May 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Racing resumes next Saturday night, May 14 beginning at 6 p.m.
