KILGORE MOPS UP ON 141 SPEEDWAY IMCA MOD FOES
By Joe and Kimberly Verdegan
(Francis Creek, WI) Aug. 3– Defending track champion Shawn Kilgore of New Franken motored around Luxemburg’s Dave Zeitler for the lead on lap 10 and cruised to victory in the IMCA modified feature at 141 Speedway Saturday night.
A total of 114 cars checked in to compete, including 23 Hansel Trucking IMCA modifieds, 10 Brian Peterson Grand Nationals, 23 IMCA stock cars, 25 Tisler Salvage street stocks, 22 Hansel Trucking IMCA northern sportmods and 9 sport fours.
Zeitler led from the drop of the green from his pole position, and wound up scrapping with Neosho’s Mitch McGrath for second during the second half of the contest. McGrath wound up second with Zeitler posting his best finish of the year with third. Rookie and former grand national champion TJ Smith of Menasha took fourth with Green Bay’s Eric Van Iten rounding out the top five.
Oconto’s Scott Stewart parlayed a last lap pass on Luke Lemmens of Kewaunee to collect the IMCA stock car feature win. Stewart edged Lemmens by less than a fender at the checkers. Lemmens settled for second at the pay window, followed by Green Bay’s John Heinz, Pulaski’s Junior Karcz and Oconto’s Dustin Loberger.
Defending track champion Josh Long of Suamico wound up the survivor in the crash filled, time shortened IMCA northern sportmods feature. Rookie Hunter Parsons turned in his best performance of the year with a second after leading much of the contest. Chilton’s Steve Schneider crossed the finish line third, but was disqualified in post race tech for a crate motor tampering violation. This bumped up Suamico’s Brandon Long and Kewaunee’s Brian Bruechert to third and fourth, respectively.
Luxemburg’s Scott Boulanger outlasted Manitowoc’s Paul Diefenthaler and defending track champion Kraig Koehler to win the Tisler Salvage street stock feature. Diefenthaler hung onto second, followed by Koehler, New Franken’s Sawyer Haese and Reedsville’s Matt Reinke.
Darboy’s Terry Van Roy won the Brian Peterson Builders grand nationals feature while Oconto’s Mike Montie won the sport four feature.
