by Joe Verdegan
(Francis Creek, WI) June 9 — Green Bay’s Eddie Muenster and Pulaski’s “Hot Rod” Snellenberger both scored clean sweeps in the IMCA modified and IMCA stock car classes, respectively, at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.
Joining the duo in clean sweeps were De Pere’s Johnny Whitman and Brillion’s Ryan Brandes, who pulled off the same feat in the IMCA northern sportmod and street stock classes, respectively.
A total of 94 cars turned up to race, including IMCA modifieds, 26 stock cars,19 northern sportmods, 19 street stocks, sport 4′s and WDLMA late models.
Muenster traded the lead with his friend Jared Siefert of Green Bay several times throughout the contest. Siefert tried both the high and low lines in the final laps, but Muenster held on for the win. Siefert settled for second, followed by Green Bay’s Eric Van Iten, Two River’s Kyle Kudick and Denmark’s Tim Czarnecki, who recovered from an earlier pit stop.
In the IMCA stock car feature Snellenberger got heavy pressure throughout the contest from Brussel’s Shawn Havel and Greenleaf’s Jesse Colwell. Havel took second to Snellenberger at the checkers while Denmark’s Rick Mahlberg nipped Colwell at the line for third. Pulaski’s Junior Karcz rounded out the top five finishers.
Brillion’s Ryan Brandes netted a clean sweep in the street stocks, winning both his heat and the 20 lap feature. Kaukauna’s Danny Gracyalny kept Brandes in his sights the balance of the contest, but wound up second at the line. Reedsville’s Matt Reinke took third, followed by Chilton’s Steve DeKerf and Seymour’s Aaron Melchert.
Mishicot’s Jerry Duggan won the sport four feature.
Next Wednesday, June 16, the Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association will make it’s inaugural appearance at Wisconsin’s newest, third-mile, clay oval. The WDLMA event will be sponsored by Van Drisse Racing of Luxemburg and Gandrud Chevrolet of Green Bay. IMCA modified, stock cars, northern sportmods, and sport fours will also compete. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
