RECORD CAR COUNTS, CROWD EXPECTED AT 141 SPEEDWAY CREEK CLASSIC OCTOBER 7 & 8

(Francis Creek, WI) October 5 — With sunshine and a predicted high near 80 degrees on both Friday and Saturday, 141 Speedway in Francis Creek is expecting a huge turnout of both cars and fans for their Creek Classic October 7 & 8.

As of Wednesday afternoon nearly two dozen motorhomes were already on site in anticipation for the last big racing weekend in northeast Wisconsin in 2011.

Much of the speedway has received a new coat of fresh paint, and track crews have been watering, grading and packing the high-banked, third-mile clay oval on a daily basis, preparing the racing surface for an anticipated 300 plus cars in nine classes in two big days of racing.

Last year 267 race teams took part in the Creek Classic. That number could well be pushed over 300. “So far we’ve pre-sold more than double the amount of last year’s pit stalls,” said 141 Speedway’s Fawn Oehlke, who has been served with the task of managing the pit stall assignments. “It’s funny because it’s sort of like high school — everyone wants to be pitted next to their friends for this event. We’re doing are best to accommodate everyone.”

Camping for all fans is free and many race teams are snatching up the pit stalls. There are a minimal number of stalls left. To reserve one call 800 684 5730. A complete list of documents pertaining to this show, including drivers payout, and order of events, can be found at 141speedway.com.

Live entertainment will be provided Friday night with Oil Can Harry and Running Blind performing on Saturday. The bar and grill will be open beginning Wednesday night, with breakfast being served in the Victory Lane Sports bar from 8 a.m. til 10:30 with seating made available. The raindate, if needed, will be Sunday, October 9.

For more information call (920) 905 1112. 141 Speedway is located 15 minutes south of Green Bay on County “R” in Francis Creek. You can follow the track on both Facebook and Twitter.
