JEROVETZ LOOKS FOR HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE IN 141 SPEEDWAY BADGER MOD TOUR FINALE OCTOBER 5
(SOBIESKI DRIVER HAS NEVER MISSED A RACE @ 141 LAST TWO YEARS)
(Francis Creek, WI) Sept. 17 – Sobieski’s Sean Jerovetz has logged as many modified racing laps as any other driver on 141 Speedway’s high-banked, third-mile clay oval the past two seasons.
Jerovetz, the 141 2011 track champion and 2012 runnerup has earned perfect attendance the past two years.
Jerovetz is hoping that home field advantage could come into play October 5, as he’s filed an entry for the season finale in the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Floors By Design & Directional Drilling Services. Jerovetz wound up winning the Luxemburg Speedway track title this year. With chasing points at both Luxemburg and 141, his racing in the BMT was limited. In fact, Jerovetz’s only BMT race was at the Clash @ Creek IV at 141, where he placed a solid fourth back on June 27.
“We had planned on running the whole Badger Mod tour this summer but we got caught up in those points title chases at Luxemburg and 141,” said Jerovetz. “Between that and being swamped at work with the trailer business (S & B Trailer sales) we just weren’t able to make many of them. We’re looking forward to the last Tour race on October 5 at 141 and will likely chase the whole BMT deal in 2013.”
While Jerovetz finished fourth in his solo BMT run, that was in a Harris chassis. Around mid season, after being a dealer for Harris chassis for many seasons Jerovetz switched to a Razor chassis. “They are out of LeMars, Iowa and we’ve developed a pretty good relationship with them,” said Jerovetz. “I was with Harris for quite awhile but for the most part, the switch had to do with issues with the tech support program. The tracks in Iowa generally have more bite than they do up here in Wisconsin. Harris was a great company to be a part of. I thought I’d end my career driving a Harris car, but we’re on board with Razor chassis now.”
So far Jerovetz already has orders for several area drivers who will compete with Razor chassis in 2013. His cousin, Troy Jerovetz, wheeled a Razor to several feature wins and the IMCA northern sportmods track championship at Oshkosh Speedzone this past year. “Jed (Troy Jerovetz) will be running a Razor again next year, and that will help us get faster no doubt,” said Sean Jerovetz. “Two heads are better than one when it comes to that information.”
Who’ll be tough to beat at 141 on October 5? “It’s a tough track for anybody to just come into and be fast,” said Jerovetz. “That turn 3 and 4 can be tricky, so obviously having some seat time there helps, even with that spoiler, because the car does act very differently with it on. I’d expect Benji (LaCrosse) and Brian (Mullen) to be very fast there, no doubt. The Beave “Tim Lemirande” won the last Tour race there. And of course you’ve got a throw the 74 (Mitch McGrath) in the mix as well. It should be a tough field.”
