EARLIER 5:30 START TIME ON GANDRUD CHEVROLET CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT AT 141 SPEEDWAY AUG. 25
(Francis Creek, WI) Aug. 24 – Four racing engines and an IMCA northern sportmod will be given away Saturday, August 25 at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek on Gandrud Chevrolet night beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The program is being pushed back one half hour to accommodate for the giveaways to drivers in the IMCA northern sportmod, stock car, Tisler Salvage street stock and modified classes. Last Saturday the number of drivers eligible for the giveaways was trimmed in half. Drivers in the four divisions who’ve competed in 75 percent or more of the track’s weekly shows areeligible for the giveaways. In addition drivers who’ve achieved perfect attendance have received a “mulligan” of sorts and a bonus chance at the motors and race car.
Saturday night will be the final points nights in the track’s six weekly divisions, which, in addition to the classes named above also include the Brian Peterson Builders grand nationals and sport fours.
In the modified class defending track champion Sean Jerovetz of Sobieski holds a slim one point edge of New Franken’s Shawn Kilgore. In the stock cars it’s been a year long tussle between veterans John “JJ” Heinz of Green Bay and defending track champion Junior Karcz of Pulaski. But Heinz currently has the upper hand with a 45 point edge over Karcz.
West Allis’ Don Sorce Jr. has been the class of the field in the Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals. Sorce holds a 39 point lead over defending track champ TJ Smith of Menasha.
In the IMCA northern sportmods Suamico’s Josh Long leads Kewaunee’s Brian Bruechert by 26 points while in the Tisler Salvage street stocks hometown driver Kraig Koehler holds a 12 mark lead over Manitowoc’s Brad Laurent.The sport four points leader is Oconto Falls Brian Johnson, who holds a 26 point lead over Abrams’ Mike Montie.
