DESPITE HEAVY STORM DAMAGE, RACING TO TAKE PLACE AT 141 SPEEDWAY JULY 28
(Francis Creek, WI) July 26 – Cleanup continues at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Thursday afternoon where a massive storm battered large amounts of rain and gale force winds, which ripped through the third-mile, clay oval.
The storms tore down nearly all of the large billboards that are erected by turn 2 and down the backstretch. Bleacher covers were strewn about into the parking lot. Track vehicles were damaged, and doors were blown completely off of the mens and women’s bathrooms.
Despite the damage, track promoter Bruce Conard vows it will be business as usual. “We will be racing this Saturday if we don’t rainout,” said Conard. “If we have to work around the clock the next two nights we will, and that may be what it takes. The problem is it’s a ton of messes all over the place. It will cost some money and time to get fixed. The pond cannot take no more water. She’s full. We’ll have to apologize to our billboard sponsors as most of our billboards got taken out by Mother Nature. We will get them back up as soon as we can.”
Racing gets underway for Schmitz Amusement night at 6 p.m. For more information on 141 Speedway please check 141speedway.com.
