2013 TWO DAY “SPRING SHAKEDOWN” AT 141 SPEEDWAY APRIL 12 & 13

(BADGER MOD TOUR SEASON OPENER FRIDAY, PRACTICE THURSDAY)

Francis Creek, WI) Dec. 1 – 141 Speedway in Francis Creek will kick off its fourth season as a high-banked, third mile clay oval with a two day “Spring Shakedown” on Friday April 12 & Saturday April 13 to usher in the 2013 racing season.

Action is slated to begin Friday night, with the Badger Mod Tour season opener. A full BMT program is slated to take place. In addition, heat races will also be run Friday in the stock car, Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals, Tisler Salvage street stocks, IMCA northern sportmods and sport fours.

Seymour’s Brian Mullen is the defending BMT champion. Last year on October 5 Mullen, driving a brand new Madman chassis, stormed through the field and captured the series finale, edging out arch rival Mitch McGrath of Neosho by a mere four points. McGrath is also set to battle for the BMT title, with a brand new Wild Inc. chassis at his disposal.

On Saturday a full modified program featuring heats, B mains and the A main will take place running 141 Speedway’s weekly track rules. Last chance qualifiers and A mains will be run in the above mentioned classes. Defending race winners from 2012 include defending modified track champion Shawn Kilgore (New Franken), defending grand national champion Don Sorce (West Allis), defending stock car champion John Heinz (Green Bay), Kewaunee’s Brian Bruechert (IMCA northern sportmods), Luxemburg’s Mitch Vandermause (Tisler Salvage street stocks) and Little Chute’s Cody Hungerford (sport fours).

Recently track crews reshaped turns three and four, widening the often challenging corners. “I think what we did with the track will make for some even better racing,” said track promoter Bruce Conard. “And by changing things up to a two day format for our opener will make things even more exciting for both the fans and drivers alike.”

The grounds will open up for campers on Wednesday night, April 10, with the Victory Lane Pub open for business. An open practice session will take place Thursday night April 11 from 5 p.m. til dusk. Further details on this two day blowout will be released in the coming weeks.
