2011 141 SPEEDWAY CREEK CLASSIC RACE WINNERS TO DEFEND CROWNS OCT. 5 & 6

Francis Creek, WI) Oct.3 — Neosho’s Mitch McGrath isn’t the only 2011 Creek Classic champion who’ll be defending his crown October 5 and 6 at 141 Speedway’s third annual Northern Concrete Creek Classic in Francis Creek.

By Wednesday already two dozen campers had rolled onto the 141 Speedway grounds, as northeast Wisconsin’s last racing bash officially kicked off. Drivers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa and South Dakota are all expected to compete this weekend.

Last year McGrath won both the Outlaw and regular modified features on Saturday night. He’s currently wrapped up in a tight points chase with Brian Mullen for the Badger Mod Tour crown, which will be decided Friday night.

One year ago Bruce Crossing, Michigan’s Jordan Kurtti made the long haul to 141 and wound up victorious in the Tisler Salvage street stock class. Kurtti is a regular Friday nights at Tomahawk Speedway and Saturdays at TNT Speedway in Three Lakes. “We’ll be there as long as we don’t get snowed out,” Kurtti joked. “There are a few other drivers from the northwoods who’ll be coming down who weren’t there last year. It should be fun.”

Wind Lake’s Roger Lee will be defending his crown in the Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals. A regular competitor at Beaver Dam Raceway, Lee beat out Brillion’s Alex Stumpf and Malone’s Tim Warner for the division win a year ago.

The “Highside Hustler” Kyle Frederick of Gillett will be a busy guy this weekend. Frederick plans on competing with his number 50 modified in the BMT race Friday night. Then Saturday Frederick will attempt to win his third straight Creek Classic title.

Frederick’s not the only driver who will be pulling double duty this weekend. 141′s 2012 stock car champion John Heinz of Green Bay will be pulling double duty this weekend. In addition to wheeling his championship stock car, Heinz recently purchased the 21L IMCA northern sportmod from Brad Lautenbach and will make his sportmod debut. Heinz clicked off some laps with the car at a practice session at 141 a week ago Saturday.

2012 IMCA northern sportmod track champion Josh Long is the defending Creek Classic winner. He will be throwing down with dozens of the top sportmod drivers across Wisconsin. Denmark’s Tom Brumlic will be on hand to defend his race title in the hobby stocks. Calvin Stueck of Clintonville won last year’s sport four feature.

In addition several drivers are expected to make their Badger Mod Tour debut Friday night. Among those drivers are Green Bay’s Eddie and Jerry Muenster, Eagle River’s Bruce Belland and Jim Zdroik, Suamico’s Chad Nelson, Kewaunee’s Eugene Gregorich and sportmod drivers Joey Taycher of Appleton and Eric Mahlik of Green Bay. 2012 modified champion Shawn Kilgore of New Franken has filed an entry for Friday nights event, along with multi time Thunder Hill Raceway champion Todd “Felix” Dart of Algoma.

Action kicks off Friday night, with the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Floors By Design &Directional Drilling Services hosting it’s season finale. A full BMT program will be run Friday night, including heats, B mains and the A main. The last time the BMT ran at 141 was for the Clash @ Creek IV June 27 when Middleton, Wisconsin’s Tim “The Beave” Lemirande wound up victorious. 58 BMT mods competed that night, and 95 different drivers in four states have competed in the Tour’s six shows so far this year.

Heat races will also be run Friday night in the stock car, Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals, Tisler Salvage street stocks, sportmods, hobby stocks, sport fours and 600 micro sprints.

On Saturday a full modified program featuring heats, B mains and the A main will take place running 141 Speedway’s weekly track rules. Last chance qualifiers and A mains will be run in the above mentioned classes. The Jr. sprints will also make their appearance of the weekend on Saturday.

1st Choice Auto of Green Bay is awarding a $100 long haul award to the driver in any division who tows the furthest to compete. They are also sponsoring a $100 hard luck award as well.

On Friday night live entertainment will be provided by Diamond & Steel. Saturday night the regionally popular band Annex will entertain fans after the races. The pit area opening Thursday at 4 p.m. and the Victory Lane Pub will be open for business as well. Racing begins at 6 p.m. Friday and at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Breakfast will be served Saturday morning at the main food stand with seating available in the bar.
