141 SPEEDWAY GETS “READY TO RUMBLE” WITH WDLMA LATE MODELS JUNE 16
(Francis Creek, WI) June 16 — 141 Speedway in Francis Creek is ready to host the locally popular Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association (WDLMA) late models Wednesday, June 16 presented by Van Drisse Oil of Luxemburg and Gandrud Chevrolet in Green Bay.
It will be the second touring special of the season at Wisconsin’s newest dirt track, following up the standing room only crowd for the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw show Memorial Day weekend. “I’m a big late model fan myself and I think these guys are going to put on a great show for us,” said track promoter Bruce Conard. “To date we’ve had a dozen late models out here practicing since April. We’re looking at having enough cars for at least three heats and a B main. It will be a great mix of the Milwaukee and Plymouth area cars along with the Shawano late models. We can’t wait.”
The night will be highlighted by a 25 lap feature, which pays $1,200 to win. Among the expected entrants is current WDLMA points leader and multi time Hales Corners Speedway champion Russ Scheffler of Waukesha. Scheffler is coming off a victory at Plymouth Dirt Track last Saturday. In addition, a special trophy dash featuring the top two finishers in each heat will run a special fast dash sponsored by B & B Racing Engines and Behling Racing Equipment.
“What’s nice about the WDLMA is the rules pretty much allow most any sanctioning body to come and race,” said Brad Mueller of Random Lake. “The facilities there are top notch and we’re looking forward to it.”
Not to be overlooked are the track’s weekly classes, which will be IMCA modifieds, northern sportmods, stock cars and sport fours which will compete in a full program. The pit area opens at 4 p.m. The spectator gates open at 5 p.m. The first green flag flies at 7 p.m.
