141 SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES “SHAMROCK SHAKEDOWN” MARCH 17
(PRACTICE SESSION TO BE HELD AT THIRD-MILE OVAL ON ST. PATTY’S DAY)
(Francis Creek, WI) March 11– 141 Speedway in Francis Creek will host the “Shamrock Shakedown” on St. Patty’s day, March 17, as the earliest practice session in Wisconsin will kick off to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at 1 p.m.
With unseasonably warm temperatures in recent weeks, there is currently no frost in the ground. With many recent days of sunny, windy and dry weather, 141’s high-banked, third-mile clay oval is already in fairly decent shape. “We had trucks on it already,” said track promoter Bruce Conard. “Merle (Lisowe) was out there. When our track prep guy is confident we can host a practice that’s all I need to hear. We’re going to give it a shot. I’m surprised how many guys have their cars done already, or are pretty close to done.”
The practice is open to cars in any and all divisions. The pit fees are $20.00 for car and driver, while pit crew members will be charged $10.00. Spectator admission for the practice will be free.
The practice is weather contingent and will run from 1 to 5 p.m. The pit gates and Victory Lane Pub open for business at noon. To help celebrate St. Patty’s day corned beef and cabbage will be served, along with $2.00 pints of green beer all day and night.
The season opens Saturday night, April 14 at 6 p.m. An additional practice session is slated for Saturday, April 7. 22 shows dot the track’s aggressive and very busy 2012 schedule. The weekly divisions taking part include modifieds, stock cars, Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals, street stocks, IMCA northern sportmods and sport fours. Traveling series that will take part in special events include the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw sprint cars and the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Floors By Design & Directional Drilling Services.
Track announcer Joe Verdegan will host a weekly, live racing radio show from the track’s own Victory Pub, which will be broadcast live from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on WCUB 980 AM. It will also be streamed live on the station’s website cubradio.com. The first show will debut Monday, April 9.
Also the Open Wheel Driving school will feature multi time World of Outlaw sprint car champion Sammy Swindell on Monday, July 9. Additional dates for the school may be announced in the near future.
